The Production Licence.
1. What we provide...
A licence to perform a script in whole or in part.
Remember: Playwrights get most of their income from performance royalties, so each time a script is performed the playwright is entitled to a fee.
Performance licences are only available to individuals and groups who have previously purchased performance sets of scripts from Alan Spence.
At its discretion, a playwright may block the issuing of rights to other companies in the catchment area of a professional production for the duration of the production run. If you wish for this, please discuss it with Alan Spence.
Please contact Alan Spence to discuss if you are considering mounting such a production.
Any performance in front of an audience requires the permission of the rights holder, for which the rights holder is entitled to set a performance royalty.
Rehearsals and play readings to members of a group, do not count as performances, but a play reading before an audience does.
It is recognised that performance requirements may change during the planning of a production, however it is the customer's responsibility to notify us if performance dates are changed.
6. Credit shall be given to the writers and copyright respected.
Name(s) of the author(s) must be displayed on all forms of advertising and promotional material, including, but not limited to posters, programmes, hand bills and web sites.
| For material publicising public performances, the publisher and rights agent shall be credited in promotional material, using the words 'By arrangement with Alan Spence'.
7.Videos of Productions; professional or otherwise. With the exception of publicity videos (see below), videos of productions and videos for other purposes are not covered by these terms. Please contact Alan Spence before making a video of a script for any other purpose.
A video made to promote a production may quote from the script provided that the sum of all quotations made in all videos does not exceed 10% of the script. The video must include a credit to the author(s) of the script.
Members of the audience have no right to make videos of a performance. Such videos constitute an actionable breach of copyright. Enforcement of this prohibition is the responsibility of the production company. So how much does all this cost?Just £25.00. Yes, that is all. You get the production powerpoint that goes with the play; including action from key games. And...you can ask me anything you like, to help with your production. Looking forward to getting your inquiries...Alan.
